under the house





I've been meaning to post about this for a while. When we moved into our house 2 years ago- we found all of these paper icons, and a Last Supper plaque- under our house in a little storage area. I'm not a religious person per se- but it makes me feel secure for some reason- having these under our home.

this is amazing! it reminds me of a short story in Jhumpa Lahiri's book of short stories: Interpreter of Maladies. An Indian couple buys a house and finds Christian icons everywhere. They decide to keep them. i understand what you mean.

I remember that story from This American Life.
Twinkle was the woman's name in the story. She wanted to keep all of the icons and her husband wanted to throw them out...
I loved that story!

No kidding... Jennifer, what an interesting treasure...very cool! I vaguely remember a story about found letters on This American Life... I love this stuff - how lucky!
